Napoleon Bonaparte chose this amazing castle as the place to rule in 1804.
Hunting area during the Middle Ages, Fontainebleau castle became more popular and known during the reign of François I and also Henry IV of France. While the different kings ruled, the castle turned into an amazing building with more than 1500 rooms where dances, plays and even fireworks took place! Not only the wedding of Louis XV and Marie Leszczyńska in 1725 but also the abdication of Napoleon I. He also lived there, as did his nephew, Napoleon III. Enjoy the Napoleon museum after walking through the Renaissance rooms and learn more about French history!

Famous for the gardens of Versailles castle, André Le Nôtre also added his characteristics to the Grand Parterre.
